CASE STUDY

Initial Survey for Upgraded 1985 Traditional Lobster Boat

Seapremacy is a 17.5-meter traditional lobster boat designed in 1985. A new owner purchased the vessel and engaged ADEC Kedge surveyors and naval architects to conduct all necessary surveys and assessments to achieve a new Certificate of Survey (CoS) to operate commercially, issued by AMSA.

Surveys completed by ADEC Kedge included:

  • Commissioning Survey
  • Initial Electrical Survey
  • Initial Engineering Survey
  • Initial Fire Systems and Fit out Materials Survey
  • Initial Fuel Tank Survey
  • Initial Hull Structure Survey
  • Initial Lightship Check or Inclining Survey
  • Draft Mark Survey
  • Initial Shaft Survey
  • Watertight and Weathertight Integrity Survey
  • Plan Approval Survey
  • Stability Assessment

With a new CoS, the owner plans to operate Seapremacy as a commercial lobster boat on the west coast of Tasmania.
